Mist Ridge, Rickert's Pass, Mist Creek loop Off-Trail Hike on 17-Jun-

A super day on a great ridge walk.
While it had rained a few hours before we started and it rained to the east and west of us, we experienced only a few drops late in the afternoon. Other than that we had mostly sunshine, with a few cloudy periods. From the south peak we had a great view of Calgary through the small v-gap between the Highwood range and the Gibraltar massif.

The ridge was almost completely clear of snow, but we did manage to find one patch.

Erica and Kent are "loaners" from the Ramblers in Ottawa. One hike last weekend with Dave (and some studying) and they already know more about our flora than this scribe. They particularly pointed out the bright red buds of the alpine larch which are found only above 2000m and in a small part of the Rockies.

We completed the trip in only 8 1/2 hours thanks to a group of strong hikers who were rarely further apart than 100 meters from lead to sweep.Erica (photos), Kent, Bill, Gerard, Ivan (mentor and photos) and Carl (coordinator and scribe).
23 km, 900 m of climb.
Thanks Ivan, for mentoring me on this, one of your regular trips. CVM
