Activity:
Scramble
Trip name:
Wasootch Peak
Coordinator:
Yolande
Report:

Smoke from wildfires caused me to cancel this trip last Thursday but today the skies in Kananaskis were very clear while Calgary still lingered in a smoky haze. The stairclimb up this peak is good exercise, the views wonderful and no pressure being the slowpoke with fellow speedsters when I am the coordinator. They reached the summit, crossed over a ridge to another peak, returned and were starting to eat their lunch when I finally arrived at the summit. My early season hiking muscles aren't very fast.

There was very little wind and the temperature was fine for going uphill but had risen to about 26C by the time we returned to the cars. We headed up around 9:30am and were back at the cars around 3:00pm after taking several chatting breaks on the way down and taking our time eating lunch. Two had never been up this popular peak before. It was a good day with enjoyable company.
