This trip went as smooth as possible for the first real scramble of the summer season. A south facing ridge in the eastern foothills is often a good bet for the early season and it did not disappoint. I even got the timing right as the rest of the group waited for me to finish in the estimated 5 1/5 hours car to car for 7 km and 790m elevation gain. The weather warmed considerably during the day to finish near +20c when the occasional wind gusts were appreciated. By then the long underwear, wind pants and jackets had all come off.

Nice views to the south and east showed Yam still had some snow and snow was present on many north slopes. While we encountered a little near Door Jamb and Loder, micro-spikes were not needed (nor carried by most). The steep slabs were essentially dry and grippy. We lunched about 12 noon on Mt Loder and returned home the same way. Toshiko found some crocus in bloom. Back at the cars a tick was removed from one person's hair and we bumped into Tony and Gillean Daffern. Back home in Calgary by 3.30pm.
