A good day at Ribbon Creek, the arctic air had moved out just in time for Saturday and it was sunny for the most part. On the drive out a bald eagle was spotted perching on a post and an immature bald eagle flew past the car. We started from the Village up Kovach trail which had been freshly trackset. Coverage is mostly good despite the low snowpack, with a few occasional twigs and gravel spots which were easy to avoid. There was time for a group shot at the high point:

Lower down the snow was not as good (but still passable) and a fresh snowfall would be welcome. Lunch was at the sunny lookout on the new Ribbon trail,

followed by a nice run down to the Ribbon Creek parking lot. We continued up to Aspen and at the junction with Kovach ran into 2 other Ramblers (Jenny & Gord) and a former Rambler (Yves) - it was warm enough to hang around for a few minutes chatting. Thanks to my co-adventurers for an enjoyable day in the mountains. Anne's GPS watch indicated 14.5 km & 510m vertical gain.
