Rimwall Summit via West Wind Pass trail Scramble on 20-Oct-2026

What a blue sky day! Conditions were excellent for doing this peak that was new to most of the group. Carl had a goal to improve his route from the last time he did this, and I think that he succeeded. We left the West Wind Trail to hike off-trail to cross a deep gully which led to a wonderful long ascent ridge in full sun. Naturally, the higher we got, the stronger the wind, so we were all wearing extra layers and ear coverings by the time we reached the ridge where you start to cross the rubble to reach the summit. The views were excellent at the top but it was too cold to sit down, so we dropped down to eat next to a long cliff band. Descent was enjoyable and fast, and it felt like summer again as we approached treeline. About 5 hours car to car.
Extra thanks to Carl for the route and to Mark/Carl for spotting people on the two downclimbs on the return. It was great to meet new members Rick and Marie-Soleil; hope to see you again soon!
