After Saturday's very strong winds, we were please to encounter only a slight breeze at Barrier Lake, where most times the wind is very strong when crossing the dam.
The conditions were great - dry trail, clear skies and expansive views. We enjoyed chatting with each other up the long fire road, then stopped at the first lookout for photos. This was the first time up this trail for one of our participants. We carried on up to the outskirts of the Fire Lookout for lunch - that area is fenced off out past the helipad now, but there are 2 picnic tables available for hiker use. Two more of our participants had never gone up to this top before. On the descent, we stopped at the large stone shelf lookout, then again at the lower lookout; all had great views.
Thanks to a great group of hikers: Norman, Francisco, Photini, Aldis, Renate, Jiaping, guest Scott from Barb.
