Panorama Meadows and lower Ridge, via Taylor Lake Trail hike on 27-Se

We had a cool, but brilliantly sunny, day on this excellent larch hike. Excellent except for the long approach through the forest.

We set out from the parking lot around 9:45, most starting off with jackets and gloves. But those came off in multiple Wardrobe Adjustment stops and we arrived at Taylor Lake after about 2 hours.

After a bit of a break, we started up through the meadows, led by Bill, to find one of the cabins associated with a mining operation (long abandoned).

From there we climbed further to a nice large open spot on the ridge with fantastic views for lunch.

From there we dropped down, generally following trails, to the second of the beautiful tarns above Taylor Lake. All along, the views and scenery, and the larches were glorious.

And on down to the lower tarn.

And back to the lake.

The trudge out, as always, seemed longer than the walk in. But there was lots of opportunity for chatting amongst this pretty large group of Ramblers. Between us, we could easily provide enough lovely photos to publish a 52 week calendar for next year.

About 19 km, 900 m ascent, 7 hours.
