Snow Peak 139256 Off-Trail hike on 23-Sep-2026

We set off from the Burstall Pass parking lot at 8:30 am under cloudy skies and a balmy 5C. After an uneventful climb we reached the summit for a very leisurely lunch at around 12:30 pm. Fortunately the weather had improved to mix of sun and cloud, with the occasional light breeze necessitating a wind jacket. Fall colours were at there very best and many photographs were taken. On the way down members of our group retrieved two abandoned backpacks which had obviously been laying there for a long time. The adjacent Commonwealth Creek was closed due to grizzly bear activity but the only wildlife that we saw was a distant mountain goat. The group finally made it back to the vehicles at about 5:30 pm having covered 20 km and 850 m.
