Roche Miette Scramble on 10-Sep-2026

Participants: Alda, Hannah, Scott, Stephanie

Roche Miette: 11.4km, 6h23min, 1352m elevation gain

It turns out that organizing a trip on your birthday means that you are that much closer to senility. After arriving in the parking lot and waiting a few minutes for the rest of the group, it turns out that instead of posting the start time for 10:30am like this coordinator had thought, it was posted for 7:30am. Talk about a coordinator blunder! Rushing out onto the trail to hopefully meet up with Alda and Hanna, Scott and I pushed up the straightforward yet steep trail to the base of the summit block.

At the summit block is where the scrambling begins, and while it is moderate scrambling, the rockfall is certainly hazardous. Keeping an eye out for flagging, we pushed up and to climbers left around much of the summit block, reaching the final scramble up to the top of the very large summit block. To our great joy, we bumped into Alda and Hanna as they were making their way down. After apologizing for my mishap and chatting briefly, we continued to push towards the summit, which was now a walk along a very expansive summit ridge.

After a short stay on the summit, and the grapple beginning to fall, we began our decent. However, on the way down we were able to find some scree to help speed our decent in some places, and eventually pushing back to skiers left and back to the main trail, which is very well defined.
