Sparrowhawk Tarns Off-Trail hike on 11-Sep-2026

As we drove out through intermittent rain, we were concerned about the weather for a trip into the tarns. Once there, the clouds dissipated revealing a beautiful fall day.

As we moved up the valley, the marmots provided some entertainment.

It got colder as we got higher and by the lunch at the highest tarn, everyone was bundled up.

While the flower season is largely over, the asters hold out until late

... and a columbine found a location to hide from the frost

On the way out the clouds moved in an out and while we got a bit of precipitation, is was minimal.

One member found the trip to be sole destroying.

Another great day out.
