A summer morning in the Highwood pass area, 500 meters north of parking area 3 grizzlies are making there way in a southeast direction. We view, then park, proceed to get shoes on, packs ready, bears appear north park of lot, 80-100 meters moving off in forest. Conversation picks up, others around.
After a little wait we decide to proceed, bear spray out, at caution rate. Basically once we start on trail 2 grizzlies appear, full view, 50 meters ahead, one looks back, moving back we discuss plan , the bears also move on there path. WE grant the grizzlies the trail and decide to drive to Galatea Lakes trail for the hike.
This is always a wonderful area, the lakes higher up, trout rising for flies on the water, makes nice lunch area.
