Castle Mtn north (highest) summit and Stuart Knob Scramble on 15-Aug-

What a spectacular day! We left the people behind at Rockbound Lake and walked through the giant limestone playground that forms the plateau between Castle and Helena Ridge before climbing up to the north summit of Castle, which is higher than Kane's summit. We enjoyed a warm, windless lunch, marvelling at the incredible views. Connecting ridges allow for an easy traverse to Stuart Knob, so of course we went there before descending soft scree back to the plateau. We meandered more to hiker's right on the return to get a different view of Rockbound lake. At that point the hail started, followed by rain, followed by strong wind-driven rain, so the descent to the lake was muddy, slippery, and about as much fun as you're imagining as you read this. The rain eventually stopped and we were warm again by the time we reached the car. 28 km/1550m in 10 hours.
