It was a nice moderate temperature for this foothills hike after the recent hot weather. The trail was dusty in spots reflecting the lack of precipitation and the wildflowers looked a little dried out. We moved along at a steady pace with lots of interesting conversations and saw very few others on the trail. At the open meadow at the high point we declared an early lunch with a view to the west; there was a cool breeze there which prompted the donning of insulating layers:
Down the hill we proceeded to the Riverside section of the trip and came to a usual stopping point where rocks project into the Elbow River:
Under the cloudy skies and a cool wind, nobody was inclined to dip their feet into the water. After a short jaunt up to the Paddy's Flat campground we returned to the cars to finish off an enjoyable day. Thanks everyone!
