Vents Ridge 6 km loop Trail hike on 29-Jul-2026

We started off shortly before 9 with temperatures still a refreshing 14 or 15 degrees, pausing for a rest at the climbing wall.

We reached the high point in under an hour, where we paused to admire the views.

Continuing along the ridge through thin forest was extremely pleasant, cool and relaxing.

We followed downward below the climbing crags for roughly half the distance to the valley bottom by Prairie Creek.

At this point we were lured downhill on a faint path that ended up crossing difficult terrain; we should have followed the cliffs all the way to the flats.

We scouted the options for crossing the creek. Two chose to hop skip and jump over barely submerged rocks and three to cross on a makeshift bridge of deadfall.

The highlight of the final section was the cool, shaded flats just before the highway. The trip took about 3.25 hours over 5.5km with 345m elevation gain.

We retrieved our lunches from our cars then went down to the Beaver Flats. Very peaceful!
