Mount Jimmy Simpson Scramble on 28-Jul-2026

A trip full of experience, starting with the drive. Below old "Copper Mountain" at the washroom break, the sighting of three grizzly bears, one full size, two younger ones, one being whiter color were viewed below parking area swimming the channel to the center island where they moved into the seclusion of the bush. The memory planted. Reaching Bow Lake parking area, with only a few spots left we begin our hike. Around the lake to backside the waterfall is very impressive, the cliff wall showing its age from the beginning of time.

Our little shelter, a quick photo, then trail ahead.

Now we start upward, little easy at first, then steepness sets in like the chill of a winter night, taking us to ledges and the upper valley. Beyond, above us the col comes into view, abundant snow patches, Discussion about route to take, some challenges, loose rock and scree the Col was gained, the summit showing now, strong cooler breeze at times, then the warmth of the sun, testing our endurance, are grit.

The wonderful day, great experience!!

The exuberance, euphoria, sets in, the little dances we take, the happy lunch on the summit. As the certainty of sand flowing thru the thru the hourglass our time here has come. Downward we start, our test is not done.

To negotiate safest way off Col to ledges below.

Steeper sections below col, good amount of snow for late July.

Tracing the earlier path, some diversion brings us again to lower elevations. Back in lower valley summer showers dampen us before more pleasantness, calm comfort at parking area. What nature put here, for us on this day, memories in the photos, images forever planted in the mind, only footprints left behind. I thank all those for joining on this trip, also to Linda and Casey two strong hikers, new Ramblers. Participants: Gary, Susan, Nardi, Teresa, Lenard, Cristina, Casey, Linda Scribe, Lenard.. Stats by All Trails---16.17km--1262 meters elevation.
