Sofa Mountain Scramble on 23-Jul-2026

We arrived at the trailhead seeing lots of smoke but rather than cancel we decided to go as far up as we could until the smoke became too much of a problem. We hiked through the brush and meadows and the started up the common route. It was a slog up to the bench above the first scramble because of the steepness and the low scrub. At that point the smoke became an issue so we decided to head down to the water falls for lunch. We went down following Bill Leach's GPS route and all agreed that Bill's route was significantly better than the common route. After lunch we headed back to tha cars, satsfied with the shortened day amongst the mountains and flowers despite the smoke.Participants: Nardi, John, Christine, Kate
