Pigeon Hike

This really is a beautiful hike for views and flowers and so close to town. The drive out was uneventful although we did unfortunately spot road kill, a black bear, half way there. Unusual.

The weather was great. Not too hot and not too cold. We had some wind gusts which served to keep the bugs at bay. We saw a few more animals up there than we usually do. We were loudly whistled at by marmots. They are sure loud when you are close. We also saw a group of mountain sheep.

. Our butterfly people spotted an Anise Tiger Swallowtail.

. It's nice to have people around with different interests. The flowers were a little different than previous years as we were a little later. The slopes were covered in mountain avons. Bill spotted an Arctic wintergreen at the top of the first peak which he thought was unusual.

We lunched among the avons at the top of the first peak and then traversed over to the second. Our group:

. We walked among the flowers on the way down. Cristina looks lovely among them.
