Pigeon Mtn - both peaks Off-Trail hike on 16-Jun-2026

After Saturday’s snowy hike on Jumpingpound Ridge, I was hoping to see some spring flowers - and Pigeon Mountain did not disappoint! There were millions of shooting stars, but we also saw lots of forget-me-nots, crocus, androsace x 2, buttercups, Jacob's ladder, scorpionweed, yellow and white draba, cinquefoil, smelowskia, kittentails, and smaller numbers of things like saxifrage. We were fortunate in the weather, too. The hike to the main summit was in sun but strong wind, and after lunch at the saddle we were expecting to be blown off the second peak. But the wind had lessened and there were only a few minutes of rain on the walk back to the cars, arriving again in sunshine.
Participants: Sonja, Jane, Ingrid, Deborah, Colleen, Jean, Stephanie, Toni (This was Toni's first trip with the Ramblers - welcome! We hope to see you again soon!)
