We had a very fine day.
We set out just after 9 (maybe a little early for this modest trip, but the forecasts called for possibility of rain later in the afternoon).
The trail and the trudge up to the clearings was uneventful. Lots of discussion on a variety of topics. No snow.
We did have to climb over or around quite a number of downed trees on the long traverse on the east side of the ridge. At least we weren't on bicycles like a few others!
The trail was pretty wet and snowy for about the last 500 m or so before we had to climb through the big drift that is at the point where you climb up onto the ridge.
While we had taken jackets off earlier it was quite cool and breezy on the ridge. We did detour north the 1-200m to the high point of the ridge (by a very few meters over the south end).
Roughly half way along the ridge we found a lovely spot for lunch that was quite protected .
After that we were largely through trees on the ridge and the temp warmed up and the wind eased. So it became a very pleasant walk with fantastic views of the surrounding mountains (covered in a lot of snow for early June).
We found our way down to the trail on perhaps not the very best route. But then it's not really a "real" Rambler trip without a little bit of bushwhacking.
Back at the cars a little after 2
Roughly 11 km, 700 m ascent, 5 hours.
Many thanks to participants: Rosanne, Philip, Bill, Aldis, John, Clifton, and Mechtild, for joining me Carl (C.S).
