Nihahi Ridge south summit Scramble on 25-May-2026

Participants: Sim, Alda, Carl, Pam, John, Marianne, Stephanie, Mark, Keith, Michele

A beautiful blue-sky day to enjoy the opening of Highway 66 on this popular ridge walk. We quickly arrived at what I had thought was the south summit, however, the veterans in the group corrected me and reminded me that it's not a summit until you reach a cairn;) Two Ramblers chose to take a break before the final destination, which was a fair call due to the gusting wind and sloping slab, while the rest scampered further along to the cairn. We all returned to the more sheltered trail below the ridge for lunch and had a relaxed, chatty walk back. Thanks to everyone for joining me and sharing their photos.
