A lovely day for this favourite ride in early May.
We started from the Sheep River warden station a little after 11 with a lightly overcast sky, temperature low teens.
There weren't quite as many riders out today, still quite a lineup of cars parked at the winter gate. We never did find Cathy's son who intended to meet us. It's a mystery how we somehow must have past each other. We did run into and were back and forth with Teresa and her son. The hill after crossing Gorge Creek seems to get a little steeper every year. But we all made it up on two wheels. We stopped at the Bluerock picnic area for a longish lunch and discussion and stories.
We did seem to have a bit of a wind assist on the way back.
We saw quite few bighorn sheep (only females and lambs) on the way out, then this at the Windy Peak area
and a few whitetail deer a little later.
All-in all a fine trip, that will hopefully encourage new Rambler Mechtild to become a regular.
Distance 40 km, ascent about 450 m, elapsed time about 4 hours.
Many thanks to participants: Cathy, and new member Mechtild for joining me, Carl (C/S).
