Sunshine backcountry for season pass holders Off-Trail skiing on 27-J

Participants: Kim, Clifton, Ivan, Margot, Janice, Ian

Met at Sunshine base a little after 9 am for gondola ride up. Then ride up Angel chairlift.

From there skied down green run to big corner and exited resort area.

Made 5 ski runs down these generally south and east facing runs. Longest run 1.3 km with 250 meter elevation drop. This first slope had previous ski tracks but still enough good powder and easy to make turns. Went well down into valley south of Brewsters Rock (Divide, Lookout).

Then 4 more ski runs, some with nice powder.

Found some slippage on up tracking which we blamed on some hoar frost in track.

Then contoured back to resort boundary and down a green ski run. Back at gondola at 2:22 pm.

Distance on skis a little over 9 km with 920 meters down and 580 up.
