Elk Pass – what a pleasant surprise. The track set was only a day old and despite the firm base, the hills were eminently skiable and to top it off, there was some new snow on top. The temperature was chilly -around -14 to start but it did warm up a wee bit during the day. The down jackets remained on or at the ready for the downhills. What fun to use green wax in January – as it should be! We skied to the picnic table on Tyrwhitt for lunch, trying to avoid the cool breeze.
Thanks to everyone who skied with me on my second trip as a pretend coordinator and thanks to Jim who gave me a passing grade (no bribe required).
Scenery provided by our fabulous mountains in winter and terrific pics provided by Steve.
