We had a fine day, some sunshine, a bit of fresh snow. Quite a bit of debris (cones and sticks) and tree bombs on Meadow and Wooley.
Temps in Calgary and at Stoney-Nakoda were below -10C, by Nakiska and PLPP around 0!
We booted up in comfort in the visitor centre and set out at 10. But before that we ran into Chip and Cathy, also electing to ski from there. There was a dusting of fresh snow, but also quite a bit of debris under that. We flicked a lot of stuff off the trails. Then we encountered this on Meadow.
Later another bigger one on Wheeler. The sun poked through some of the time.
We stopped for lunch a little after noon at the Packers/Pocaterra junction picnic table. Packers, which is frequently kinda rough until mid season, was fine. In general there seemed to be less debris on the trails south Lynx. Then we had the nice long run down Pocaterra and some up and down on Lynx.
And back at the cars a little after 2. My third day out of five in much nicer weather in the mountains than in Calgary.
19 km, 400m ascent, a little over 4 hours.
Many thanks to participants: Rosanne, Philip, and Clifton for joining me, Carl (C/S).
