Despite posting this trip after 4pm the day prior, four of my favorite scramblers agreed to join me on what I had promoted as being "one more, one-last scramble before winter arrived". As it turned out, winter arrived earlier than forecast and while we enjoyed one of the calmest days I've had on this mountain (pretty much zero wind) light snow began falling shortly after we arrived at the trail. The climb to Raven's End was warm and easy, but from there the snow began to accumulate and once through the notch it was hard to decide whether spikes would be helpful or not, as we were still walking mostly on rock, but with some very icy sections, often in the most trickiest of places. So...I guess we ended up with one more scramble but in winter conditions. On the bright side, while many shoulder season hikes can seem a bit dull after a summer of scrambling, this one was not.
Thanks to a confident and upbeat group to share the day with and to Tatyana and Maryse for the great photos, while I was too busy watching my feet.
