Forgetmenot Ridge 548262 Off-Trail hike on 4-Nov-2025
This is the sixth year in a row that I've coordinated this trip in October or November - I love both the ridge walk and the views with fresh snow on the mountains. However, in order for the experience to be actually enjoyable, you need a sunny day with very light wind, and that's exactly what we got... it was spectacular!
The steep climb was dry with good traction, and the snow level was manageable even through the hidden ankle-breaking holes in the rock field on the summit ridge (a bonus was that the snow showed off some fresh cougar tracks). In the afternoon, we decided to forego the normal extension to the north summit and instead walk the length of the north-centre ridge, which provided some unique views. Overall a grand 18 km/900m/6:40 day under blue skies with a great group of women.

The scrambly section was straightforward with snow and no ice
At the highest point and about to have lunch

Quite manageable snow depth
Happiest when I'm walking
