Due to the dental emergency, the original coordinator could not continue, and the trip was passed to the other coordinator. With only four participants left, instead of doing Pasque Mt., upon the short discussion, we decided to make a shorter trip to Junction Hill. It turned out to be a great choice. We did not see any people during the hike. The weather was great. There was little or no wind, and not a cloud in the sky. We passed a dead cow on the side of the road wondering what happened to it. It was probably a roadkill. Then, we saw a lonely elk further on the road to the trailhead. While we were climbing up to the Junction ridge, we heard what sounded like a large pack of coyotes howling. There were sheep grazing below the ridge, always a great sight on any hike. We started at -3C and finished at 11C. There was little snow in the trees and on the ridge. We had longer lunch on the top, enjoying the views and the warm sun on our faces. We decided to do the loop to longer enjoy the good weather. We were back at the trailhead around 2:00 pm. Big thanks to Cristina, Jane, and a new member Sue for joining me on this beautiful fall day.
