The Powderface Trail having just recently been graded made for quick travel to the Lusk Pass trailhead where Arnold, Alda, Jeannette, Nardi, Sonja, John, and myself Marcus set out shortly after 9.
A cairn marks the cutoff into the woods on a path that was more worn in than I remembered it from not so many years ago - apparently this approach to Boundary ridge has become more popular, although we saw no one else on this day. It had also recently been flagged and brushed/pruned, which along with willows and shrubs having mostly lost their leaves meant the understory was drier than might be expected given the snow ~3 days earlier.
It was a nice morning with low broken cloud but the light E breeze kept things cool and so only a short break at the meadow (a Protected Research Site designated by the Tyrell Museum!) before we resumed moving up to the ridge. A faster group went on to Boundary Peak reaching it around 12:30 (800m elev. gain, 7 kms), while three of us lolled along the ridge. Being in the rolling clouds created a magical ethereal mood.
Thanks go to John for being my mentor as well as leading the faster group to the summit; and also for some interesting conversations. An overall lovely day out!
