We had another lovely day. The smoke obscured the further peaks, and gave us an excuse to not go too fast.
There was certainly concern about the smoke and two Ramblers elected to cancel. But five elected to check it out and at 9 in the morning, things didn't look too bad at the trailhead. And so we decided to at least head up to the crux step and reevaluate.
And at the crux, we were all good to keep on going.
We were at the top of Heart Mtn at pretty much exactly two hours.
And at the Grant McEwan peak at noon after three hours.
After about 1/2 hour we continued on to the subsequent "bumps" on the circuit.
This circuit really doesn't let up, I can't really think of a "hike" (as opposed to a scramble/climb) that takes as long to complete 11km.
On the whole circuit there is very little where one can stride along at a quick walking pace. We finished at the trailhead around 3:30.
11 km, 930 m, 6 1/2 hrs.
Many thanks to participants: Susan, Clifton, Ulrike, and Gary for joining me, Carl (C/S)
