Moose Mtn L/O trail Trail hike on 1-Sep-2025

Yet another lovely day in the mountains.

We set out from the trailhead around 9:40 and proceeded, keeping within sight of each other most of the time.

We made it to the "summit" a few minutes after my Noon table reservation.

The views were somewhat affected by smoke or possibly humid haze. The city was completely obscured and we could barely make out the peaks of Lougheed, Wind, Sparrowhawk and Bogart that are not really that far away. And I am still not at all happy with the "privatization" of the summit and its lookout. In the past I have frequently had a nice conversation with the fire lookout staff. And I kinda feel that you don't really "bag" the peak any more.

As close as you are now permitted to get to the top of Moose Mtn!

The return was uneventful although as always with out and back trips, it seemed like a couple of kilometres had been added to the trail.

The forecasted possible showers did not appear, (although they may have hit an hour or two later). The temperature was warm but not excessively hot.

14 km, around 700 m ascent, a little over 5 hours.

Many thanks to participants: David, Aldis, Barb, and Natalie for joining me, Carl (C/S)
