Little Arethusa 433075 via Arethusa Cirque Off-Trail hike on 24-Aug-2

It was a perfect day to be hiking in the Highwood Pass area - clear blue skies, almost no wind and not too hot. Our group of six headed up the trail at 9:15 am and hiked at a moderate pace up to to the meadows and then up to the upper cirque bench.

After a brief break, we traversed the bench to the base of Little Arethusa.

It was the usual grunt up the steep trail to the ridge and then along the ridge to the summit. It took about 2 hours to reach the top from the parking lot.

The views as usual, were superb. We enjoyed a long lunch at the summit.

Once back at the meadows, we decided to finish off the hike by hiking off trail through the larch stands and meadows at the base of the NW ridge of Storm Mountain.

The final section was an easy ten minute walk through semi open forrest back to the lower section of the trail. We arrived back at the vehicles 5 hours after leaving the parking area.

My thanks to Philip, Carl, Margaret, Clifton, Dana for joining me Kevin (C/S) on a very enjoyable day hiking in K Country.
