Black Prince Lakes 249167 Off-Trail hike on 8-Jul-2025

We started off around 10 under sunny conditions with a mild breeze. After a short bushwack we arrived at the gravel deposit which we crossed and started up toward the falls along the avalanche track. This proved the best area for flowers on the trip with even a few late glacier lillies lingering along the edges of snow patches.

Unfortunately the ever steepening slope proved too much for one participant who was unable to continue.

Douglas kindly agreed to assume coordinator duties and continued on to the tarns with the tree others where they enjoyed a lunch break

Looking towards the mostly ice-covered lake from our lunch stop. 3 young guys told us they had gone for a dip and that the water was fairly cold.
