East peak of Mount Burns 555096 Scramble on 7-Jul-2025

Despite being directly beside our scramble of Shunga La She 4 days ago, this was a very different adventure, and I was grateful for the GPS tracks today (kudos to Simon as well as Sim) and group route-finding. The first half of the route is obvious, but once you're up on the series of summit outcrops, there are many places where you have to nail your position between cliff-bands just right, not to mention sections where the ridge is a series of pinnacles, some of which connect and some which do not. Luckily, we only had to back track occasionally and were rewarded with a blue sky day and perfect tempertures on the summit, which apparently a variety of insects also enjoy.
Thanks once again to this cohesive and cooperative group: Sim, Simon, Maryse and Matthew. Always a treat to scramble as a team who supports one another the entire way even if our paces don't perfectly match. Stats (thanks, Simon): 13.03 km, 1166 m, 8:17 hours.
Pam
