Aylmer Lookout Trail hike on 14-May-2025

Surprisingly, this popular trip was new for 4 out of the 7 of us, including the coordinator. The long walk was nicer than I expected, and what a treat to walk on a well-built Parks Canada trail that had recently had lots of blowdowns cleared. The excellent and dry conditions lent us speed - we were at the exceptional viewpoint in just over 3 hours, and had an unhurried lunch in the sun. The return walk was entirely in sunshine and we were back at the cars moments before the anticipated rain started. 24 km/800m in 6.75 hours including lunch and all of our stops. Another fun day with a great group.

Very few flowers were seen, but the highlights included the first calypso orchids, bladderpod, and purple violets.
Participants: Sim, Jane, Donna, Ingrid (coordinator), Peter, Margot, Deborah
