We enjoyed a safe early season scramble up Loder Peak via Door Jamb. The weather was pretty close "as forecast" eg +8 to +16c, mostly sunny and wind picking up after lunch. The route was essentially dry with negligible snow. Announced as "NOT FAST" (because I'm old"), we took 6 hr 20 min car to car for this 6.3 km scramble 5 with 780m elevation gain and loss. It was also a pretty nice day and we got talking. We saw a few other people. Another GPS showed 880m elevation gain.
From the signed Jura Creek Parking lot west of Exshaw, we walked a bit east (100m?) and then its up and more up staying close to the ridge apex. There were some slabs which gripped quite well, a bit of scree and the usual rocky sections to add interest and keep you awake. Good, but hazy views of the Bow Valley and miscellaneous peaks to the west. A first lunch on Door Jamb and a second longer lunch on Loder Peak. Yamnuska looked mostly snow free. Thanks to the group for keeping together. Click on any photo to enlarge.
