Gunnery Mtn 702861 loop Off-Trail hike on 14-Apr-2025

After a ten minutes walk on the highway we started the ascent of the sw ridge. All the new snow from Friday's storm had melted so we made good progress up the steep trail. In less than two hours at a steady but no rush pace we were on top enjoying the views and the warm sun. Only on the backside of Gunnery we encountered deep snow , luckily we found an old snowshoe track that made our progress a lot easier. Return was via the ridge east of Gunnery creek. Back at the cars at 3:30 for a five and a half hours day .
