We started at the reasonable hour of 10 am with a painless crossing of Storm creek thanks to low water levels and some strategically placed stepping stones. After regrouping and snack break by Running Rain lake we had to bushwhack for about half an hour before reaching the meadows and the larch forest at its best golden yellow colors. With lots of stops for pictures it took us ninety minutes from the lake to the west end of the ridge and lunch spot. Then it was an enjoyable ridgewalk with expansive views to the last bump and the descent to rejoin the main trail. Back at the cars at 3:45.
