Chester Lake Trail hike on 24-Sep-2024

A perfect fall day for a stroll in the larches! The trees themselves seem a bit behind in the colour change this year, with scattered ones in full autumn glory, but the majority still showing more of a yellowish green shade. On our route which took the usual trails to Chester Lake and then the Elephant rocks, followed by a short off-trail segment from the rocks up to a lunchtime viewpoint at treeline, and then down into 3 Lakes valley, we “lost” a handful of the group in the short ascent through the forest. Fortunately they navigated over to the lower of the 3 Lakes where we re-united, but it's a reminder to be more vigilant about keeping everyone in sight in off-trail terrain, especially with large groups. Thanks everyone, for your company on a beautiful day in the mountains.

Participants: Rosanne, Philip, Bill, Francisco, Nancy, Mike, Aldis, Margo, Joanne, Cathy, Barbara, Steve, George, David, Heather
