Lakeview Ridge Off-Trail hike on 23-Jul-2024

The temperature by the afternoon was forecast to be +30c so to accommodate the coordinator who was no longer interested in hiking the complete Lakeview ridge loop, the group was divided into an A and B group with a second coordinator leading the loop group. We stayed together until we were halfway up Horseshoe basin where group B continued to the end and up the col while group A ascended directly up the west ridge where we rested a while and admired the many bumps on the loop of the ridge that the other group would be doing. Occasionally the wind gusted quite strongly so we headed back down and returned to the cars by 2:00pm. 650m, 13.5km. Group A consisted of Yolande (c/s), Dave, John and Clifton.

Group A went up to the bump in the middle of the photo.

Group B - Did the route as shown in Ramblers trip description gpx track. On this route one is right up on a ridge (with quite a few ups and downs) for much of the day. In the significant heat, a pretty steady breeze was welcome.
