What a fun and easy group to be with today! Jo Anne instantly offered to drive the entire Valley Ridge group, and we all seemed to move at the same pace, breaking for layering/delayering etc. at the same times. Synchronicity at its finest. The number of cars in the parking lot when we arrived was surprising but also meant the trail was well trodden for us and while spikes were needed, it wasn't overly icy, slushy or muddy. The sun came and went making the temperature perfect (by my non-heatloving scale) except when we reached the final ridge where the wind was somewhat unpleasant. This group did not hesitate though, and forged ahead to the second summit and lookout point where we enjoyed the views and found a nicely sheltered spot for lunch. The way back was relaxed and happy, and as is often the case, many interesting ideas and facts were shared. Having been away for a couple weeks, I was grateful just to get out so everything else was a bonus! Thanks to everyone for making it a perfect shoulder season mountain escape.
