It was easy to believe that Spring was on the way, with blue skies, little wind, and warm temperatures. Even the portion of the trail that was icy on Thursday had become easily walked mud by Sunday. Needless to say, no traction devices were need, or even contemplated, for the first time this year. We had lunch at the rock formation above the 64th Street entrance where we enjoyed 360 degree views

Because of the leisurely nature of the hike, there were lots of interesting conversations, mainly cantered around hiking and travel. After lunch, at a westerly viewpoint, some of us stopped while Dave identified most of the mountains we could see and he had climbed.

The last stretch of the trail became quite crowded with bikes, dogs, and people out enjoying the good weather. We were back at the cars shortly after 2 PM, having walked 11.1 km. and climbed 178 m.

Thanks to Tom, Douglas, Norma, Nadine, Margo, George, David, and guest Phil Godlontonfor joining me. Brian C/S/P
