Sparrowhawk Tarns 216410 Off-Trail hike on 14-Aug-2023

We had the parking lot to ourselves and started off at 9:00 AM under cloudy skies. By the time we escaped the trees the clouds had disappeared and the sun shone down on us through bright blue, smokeless skies. We rambled up the rocks reaching the still green meadows with a slight breeze to keep us cool. The only flowers still blooming were a few yarrow and grass of parnassus. Proceeding up we found the tarns were only dried mud flats.

We spent a relaxed lunch at the stone table before wandering back down. We decided to see if the tarn on the east side of the valley had any water and found that there was quite a bit still there.

After a leisurely walk down we reached the cars a little after 3:00 PM. Participants: David,Janice,David,Ed,John,Jo.
