Powderface Ridge from west Trail hike on 5-Aug-2023

A cloudy day but no precipitation during the hike so it was a good get-out-and-hike excursion. The ascent to Three Trail Pass was fairly quickly completed and the group split in two with the majority wanting to take the direttissima route straight up the steep slope to the northwest outlier. The others used the trail and at the turnoff point to the outlier Ingrid's trip materialized coming from Rainy Pass. We all went to rejoin the rest at the top of the oulier:

After a rest break we descended back to the main trail to continue up to the main ridge where views to the east merged into distant haze/smoke. We ascended to the high point and continued for another 15 minutes before plunking down for lunch. Clouds to the west covered just the very tops of some of the peaks but never did much threatening action. We returned to Three Trail Pass and continued northeast to the grassy ridges of North Powderface before turning around and returning to the cars.
