The plan was to start relatively early for a short trip before the threatened afternoon rain (which never materialized). Parking lots in the area were already crowded before 9. We were off and away along Powderface Creek under pleasant, slightly overcast conditions. We soon reached the open hillside and the trail branching off up past the White Buddah climbing wall to the Vent Ridge summit.

After a short break we proceeded along the ridge then down the north side under the overhanging cliffs.

We watched a young climber practicing impressive, acrobatic moves before heading down to Prairie creek

We were pleasantly surprised that a good improvised bridge had been constructed, perhaps by enterprising climbers.

After another break, we completed the loop along Prairie Ck. around noon.

Given the modest 6km and 345m elevation, five decided to head on down to the Beaver Dam flats for lunch.
We even found a picnic table!
