The morning drive was quite spooky due to thick fog along highway 1; traffic speeds weren’t exceeding 80 kph and often were as low as 60. But fortunately everyone made it safely to the trailhead where we were greeted by clear deep blue sky and little wind. We wore spikes all day which made travel easy but conversation a bit challenging due to the loud crunching. Our route took us up Sugar Mama, over Strange Brew to descend Sugar Daddy, and then up Snagmore to the highest point before retracing Snagmore to the parking lot, for a total trip of perhaps 18 km and close to 600m of elevation gain in 5 hours.
Thanks to everyone for their company, which together with the perfect conditions turned a good day into a great one! And as is often the case, extra thanks to Cristina for capturing the day nicely in photos.
