Running Rain lake north ridge Off-Trail hike on 25-Sep-2022

With the dry summer the water levels on Storm creek were quite low so the crossing presented no problems and no water shoes were needed. After one hour on the good trail we reached the lake with beautiful fall colors all around

Well rested we tackled the 30 minutes walk in the trailess dark forest finally emerging in a large plateau with numerous larch trees in various shades of yellow

It didn't take long to climb the steep final slope and shortly after 12 noon we were all on top, while three went on to scramble up the knoll west of the ridge the rest sat down to enjoy a long break

My apologies to all the purists for missing the last high point on the ridge. It was a steep and bushy descent to rejoin the main trail and clear sailing. Back at the cars at 3:45 pm.
