Our early start at 8:30 am allowed us to get good parking spots at the trail head. It was a beautiful morning - warm with blue skies and no wind. We had to make three creek crossings on logs in order in order to reach the fork of Porcupine Creek.
From there the group started the steep uphill section at a moderate pace up the ridge along the treed trail. Higher up the angle lessened and before we knew it we were out of the trees at the base of the ridge.
After a short 5 minute break to rehydrate, the group headed up the ridge towards the first pinnacle.
At the base of the first pinnacle the group quickly negotiated the short easy scrambly bit and we traversed along to the high point of the first pinnacle, where we took a break to enjoy the excellent weather and views.
From there it was on to the high point at the second pinnacle to have lunch. Some of the group scrambled over a short distance to the next bump.
We retraced our steps back down to the first pinnacle where we enjoyed our last break of the day.
The group retraced our steps back down the ridge to the creek and along the flats back to the vehicles without incident. We were back at the vehicles by 1:30 PM. My thanks to Shirley, Jeannette, Janice, Yoko, Teresa, Ulrike, John, Toshiko, Krzysztof for their great company and for joining me Kevin (C/S) for a very enjoyable ridge walk in K Country.
