Noseeum peak Scramble on 21-Jul-2019

It’s a great day when everyone returns to the car smiling. I can’t put into words how jazzed I am that such a delightful group converged to accompany me on this trip. We started out on the trail around 8:30 a.m. under a blue sky and hiked along Noseeum Creek. After about an hour we reached a headwall with two waterfalls and rather than scramble up a tall chimney, we looked for a faint trail Zora talked about that is located right of the lower falls. It was difficult to spot due to its steepness and packed dirt but we discovered this trail and took advantage of this smoother ascent at the start of the headwall. We followed a faint trail under the second waterfall and higher up entered a basin where a beautiful alpine lake was nestled, an obvious place for a break.

Initially we planned to stop here on the way down but that didn't pan out. It was too nice.

Remnants of snow dotted the landscape around this alpine tarn. We soon packed up and continued toward the crux of this trip, a scree gully just below Noseeum’s ridge. The group separated into two teams, one ascending climber’s right while the other picked their way up climber’s left. This strategy proved to be successful and we linked up on the ridge.

Lunch on the summit was under a radiant blue sky with a stunning 360 degree panoramic view. It was so calm, a few Ramblers decided to take a nap. We retraced our steps on descent but skirted around the lake.

We returned to the cars at 6:00 p.m. taking longer than usual because we could, the weather was on our side. Meanwhile, after we dropped off the Canmore crew it was tardy trip on the Trans-Canada due to a couple accidents. Thank you Ricardo,Margaret,Jane,Ulrike,Barbara,Lenard,Suzy,Tomiji for creating great memories that I'll cherish forever. Yours truly, Christine c/s/p
