Big Salmon River canoe trip Paddling on 26-Aug-2018

“There are strange things done in the midnight sun…

Six adventurers convened in Whitehorse to canoe the Big Salmon River. We hired an outfitter who supplied us with gear and transport to our put in on Quite Lake (a 4 hour drive East of Whitehorse), and then back to Whitehorse from our pull out at Carmacks on the Yukon River.

We paddled for 10 days, travelling 240km on the Big Salmon, and another 110 Km on the Yukon.

Nights were cold, bugs non existent, and the rain generally appeared after dinner or before breakfast.

Thanks to Jill, Barbara, Carl, Mike Guest John Gray and to Robert Service for their fine company from c/s Stan
