Zigadenus Lake with traverse to Deception Pass Off-Trail hike on 27-S
Admiring an intense rainbow near Castle Junction, some of us were apprehensive about the weather for the hike. However, there was no rain as we started up the road towards Halfway Hut and were pleasantly surprised when shortly afterwards we got a lift up to Temple, the start of an enjoyable trip in mostly sunshine. Just below Halfway Hut we met some Parks workers who were going to Hidden Lake to remove the nets as part of a re-stocking of cut-throat trout.

We had a brief stop at a sunny snow-free slope below Halfway Hut for a quick snack and then proceeded up to Boulder Pass for an early lunch.

Ptarmigan Lake
We followed the usual route over a windy Packers Pass and found a lovely lunch stop overlooking Zigadenus Lake.

After lying around for a while, we went down the short headwall to Myosotis Lake and again had sunshine.

Across Myosotis Lake towards short headwall to Zigadenus We dropped down through the chimney and chose to do a traverse through small larches to Deception Pass.

From Deception Pass to below Boulder Pass was windy and cool with some hard white stuff hitting us, but became warmer and sunnier as we head back to Halfway Hut and out the access road. The trip took about 7.5 hours and was enjoyed by Carl, Nancy and Douglas (C/S/P)
